Disney: Next ‘High School Musical’ will be a kindergarten prequel

HSprequel Disney's "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" danced its way to the top of of the weekend box office class with $42 million.  With numbers like that, Disney is not about to let go of this successful franchise. Taking a page out of George Lucas' playbook, Disney has decided to do a prequel that takes place in kindergarten.

"You're going to see what these characters were like as children," says Mark Zoradi, president of Disney's motion-picture group. "You're going to see that Troy was a chronic nose picker and a huge nerd who got beat up by a couple of second graders. There's a great musical number that goes with that scene."

All of the popular "High School Musical" characters will be in the prequel including Chad Danforth who ends up being sent to the school nurse after overdosing on paste. Chad is also beaten up by two girls -- one in a wheel chair -- in his kindergarten classroom.  A young Gabriella will be in the same classroom. Her are called to the school after she keeps lifting her dress to show the boys her underwear.

While Disney works out what are expected to be difficult contract issues with and for the next sequel, Disney will continue with prequels. Already on the slate is a daycare movie with the same characters. After that, Disney will turn to animation to feature the "High School Musical" characters as unborn fetuses.
