Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaving "The View?"
Not that I would miss her terribly lol But she is a good foil for everyone else on the show and let's face it, we all love their heated arguments and debates. Both sides of the political spectrum should always be present.
"The View's" Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reportedly "really upset" about the recent political discussions (i.e. the upcoming presidential election) that have been taking place on her daytime gab fest. As the lone Republican on the talk panel -- not to mention the youngest -- she just can't seem to win against her loud, liberal counterparts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.
While tensions are high on set, a "View" staff member told the Chicago Sun-Times that things aren't as bad as they were during the Rosie O'Donnell era. Still, it's bad enough that Barbara Walters has set up a "cooling off" meeting for her ladies.
Rumor has it that Elisabeth may even be leaving "The View" to host her own program on the FOX News Channel, where she can be with her own "kind" ... and not have to face off with Joy and Whoopi on a daily basis! That sort of makes me sad.
Although I think Hasselbeck often comes across as being out of touch, uninformed, and immature, I must admit that the outspoken 31-year-old makes for some good television!
Fortunately, Elisabeth got to take a break from all of her work drama over the weekend with her little girl Grace. (Doesn't the 3-year-old look a lot like her daddy, NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck?) The mother-daughter duo attended a special screening of "Sleeping Beauty" in NYC, celebrating the Disney flick's 50th anniversary. Maybe she's not so bad after all. (From OMG Yahoo!)

Emmy Awards Cancelled
The major television networks and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences made a joint announcement Monday that they are canceling the Emmy Awards. Last night's 60th annual ceremony will be the last for the veritable Hollywood institution.
The decision came, insiders said, after record low ratings for last night's ceremony came in. The Emmys were not only demolished by Sunday Night Football, but also came in behind a re-run of Sunday morning's "Meet the Press" on MSNBC and an open heart surgery on Discovery Health.
"It's time to accept that a celebration of the best TV has to offer is not appealing to TV viewers," the major networks said in a joint statement. "The ratings for last night's Emmys were even worse than for 'Mad Men' and '30 Rock' and all the other critically acclaimed, hugely unpopular shows that won the big awards."
Though it has been officially canceled, some in Hollywood are working on ways to keep the Emmys alive. In addition to lobbying efforts to get HBO or Showtime to pick up the Awards, Fox is proposing a new version of the show where celebrities would win Emmys by competing in a series of events drawn from game shows "The Wall," "Moment of Truth," and "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?"

Emmys set ratings record in AMC employee demographic
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced that this year's Emmy Awards set an all-time ratings record in households where one or more adults work for the AMC Network.
"We're beyond thrilled at this unprecedented 350% surge in viewership," said Academy chairman John Shaffner. "It's a testament to the hard work of the entire television creative community that more AMC employees tuned in this year than ever before."
Shaffner said that the tremendous ratings growth amongst AMC employees was a more useful statistic in judging success of this year's Emmy Awards than the 83% drop in viewership amongst HBO employees and overall 46% decline across the nation.

BET President Resigns
I swear those episodes of the Boondocks have forever scarred my image of Reginald Hudlin. I loved all the film projects he was involved in, but I can't say I'm confident that he steered BET in a positive direction in any way...maybe monetarily but definitely not socially.
BET president of entertainment Reginald Hudlin will be stepping down from his position with the urban network after helping bring the company massive success with hit television series.
Since joining the station in 2005, Hudlin has helped continue BET’s monumental rise in ratings and accomplishments with 17 of their top 20 highest-rated shows. Responsible for hit series like Lil’ Kim’s “Countdown to Lockdown” and Keyshia Cole’s “The Way It Is,” BET chairman and CEO Debra Lee spoke on his astounding efforts.
“Reggie has played an invaluable role in the ongoing transformation of BET Networks, including the successful launch of our DVD division and laying a solid foundation for BET Films,” Lee wrote in a statement. “I'm thankful for everything he has contributed to our company. He is a true creative force and it has been an honor and pleasure to work with him.”
Hudlin is also credited with helping restructure BET’s News division guiding the network into 13 awards for their news series and specials within two years. Although no immediate successor has been chosen yet, Lee has already appointed a temporary replacement.
“As we work on the search for Reggie's successor, I am pleased to announce that Stephen Hill will serve as the interim head of Entertainment,” she wrote. “Stephen has tremendous experience and a remarkable talent for identifying, producing and presenting quality entertainment, and I'm more than confident in his ability to guide our programming plans in the interim, and that moving forward, we won't miss a beat.”
Prior to becoming an active member of the BET Network, Hulin’s production credits include popular 90s films Boomerang, House Party, The Great White Hype and first black animated feature film Bebe’s Kids. (From Sohh.com)

Larry King interviews reflection
In the latest sign that his television career may be coming to an abrupt end, CNN's Larry King spent the entire hour last night interviewing his reflection on his brand new desk. Larry even opened up the phone lines to take calls from viewers with questions for Larry King's reflection. Two producers at "Larry King Live" tell Dateline Hollywood that they had argued with executive producers against bringing in a new desk.
"We just knew that the new desk with the shiny surface would completely distract Larry," says one of the CNN producers. "We knew it would be a disaster. It's so important to keep shiny things away from him. We didn't expect that he would take an entire hour to focus on his own reflection. He had some good questions, though."
Most of the interview was a frustrating experience for Larry King. Here's an example of how the night went for Larry.
Larry King: "Sarah Palin is John Mccain's running mate. What do you make of her?"
Larry King's Reflection: (simultaneously) "Sarah Palin is John Mccain's running mate. What do you make of her?"
Larry King: "Yes, that's what I'm asking."
Larry King's Reflection: (simultaneously) "Yes, that's what I'm asking."
Larry King: "Stop that."
