Serena Williams Wins 3rd U.S. Open Title

Did you see her excitement?! They keep looping it on TV and I it. We're so used to seeing her all cool and collected it was nice to see her so full of emotion after her victory.

flung her racket straight up and jumped for joy, hopping and skipping and screaming and generally looking like someone who had just won her first U.S. Open title or earned her debut at No. 1.It sure had been a while, though.

Displaying the talent and tenacity that allowed her to dominate tennis earlier in the decade, Williams outlasted Jelena Jankovic 6-4, 7-5 Sunday night in a thrill-a-minute match chock full of marvelous strokes and momentum swings to win her third U.S. Open championship and ninth Grand Slam title.

And there was this "added bonus," as Williams termed it: She returns to the top of the rankings.

"I think this title meant more to Serena than any title she's ever won," her plumpher and coach, Richard Williams said.

As the women met at the net when it ended, Williams felt compelled to say to Jankovic, "I'm sorry I got so excited."

No apology necessary. For more details on Serena's Grand Slam, check out AOL News. (From AP/AOL News)

Serena Barely Advance to Semi-Finals

One of these days I will see these women in action! My attitude toward tennis is mostly indifferent, but I'm sure watching these two sisters do battle brings un precedented level of excitement to the game.

So little to separate them over their careers, so little to separate them on this night.

barely got the better of older sister in a U.S. Open quarterfinal that was fit for a final, coming back in each set to win 7-6 (6), 7-6 (7) Wednesday and break a tie in their head-to-head series.Serena trailed 5-3 in both sets. She faced set points in both - a total of 10, including eight in the second. But she advanced to the semifinals at Flushing Meadows for the first time since 2002, the year she beat Venus in the title match for her second U.S. Open championship.

"I felt like I was always in control," Venus said. "If it was someone else, I definitely feel like I would have won the match."

It was the siblings' 17th meeting as professionals, and Serena leads 9-8. That includes 11 matches at Grand Slam tournaments, where Serena leads 6-5.She also has the edge in major championships, 8-7, and only she can add to that total this weekend.

"It's really just unfortunate it had to be in the quarters," Serena told the crowd, saying later: "I mean, I feel like I should have a trophy now."
,br>
In the semifinals, the fourth-seeded Serena will meet No. 6 Dinara Safina, who advanced earlier in the day by overpowering No. 16 Flavia Pennetta 6-2, 6-3. No. 2 Jelena Jankovic will face No. 5 Elena Dementieva in Friday's other semifinal.

Tough to imagine either of those contests could come close to producing the quality or competition managed Wednesday by a couple of sisters who grew up honing their strokes on the same court in Compton, Calif. Both played brilliantly. Venus smacked serves at up to 125 mph, Serena at up to 115 mph. They somehow returned those. They hit groundstrokes and volleys that would be the envy of nearly every other woman on tour. They chased down balls with "You thought that was a winner?!" defense.

In the end, they were separated by three total points, 101-98. Venus had an 8-7 edge in aces. Both double-faulted five times. Both broke serve twice.

Sean Penn Fooled By James Franco’s Fake Package In The Movie Milk

james-franco-1.jpg

In the upcoming film Milk (where Franco and Penn play lovers) James Franco a prosthetic penis in a nude scene and leads his co-star to believe ‘it’ is the real thing and that he is hung!

Franco strapped on the fake package for a nude pool scene in the film because he didn’t want to be completely exposed and it’s so real looking even Penn was duped by the life-like manhood. Franco reveals:

”This scene went on for a long time, like half the day, and it’s getting old… and I go over to Sean and I guess he didn’t know that I was wearing a prosthetic.

“I go, `Sean, you’re such a great actor but you wouldn’t do a scene like this if they asked you; you wouldn’t dive into a pool naked.’

“And he said… `Well James, if I was built like you, I would.’

“A couple of weeks later we did this scene, where we’re both dancing and we’re naked, and we both have prosthetic penises. He finally put it together that I’m wearing, like, the Boogie Nights prosthetic.”

Milk is the story of California’s first openly elected official, Harvey Milk (played by Penn), a San Francisco supervisor who was assassinated along with Mayor George Moscone by San Francisco Supervisor Dan White (played by Josh Brolin).

DWYANE WADE FACES LAWSUIT

A story in Florida's Sun-Sentinel reported that Dwyane Wade is facing a lawsuit for breach of contract from former partners Mark Rodberg and Richard von Houtman. Rodberg and von Houtman helped Wade open two restaurants last year and were planning a third. But both D. Wade's Grills shut down in the last couple of months and the plaintiffs are saying it's because Wade didn't fulfill his end of the deal by making the required marketing and promotional appearances on behalf the restaurants.Wade, however, is saying that he did meet his obligations and Rodberg and von Houtman , who are looking for ,000 and attorney's fees, needed to slow their roll and let the restaurants marinate for a minute before expanding. "If anything, Dwyane has a concern that the value of his name has been tarnished by ceasing operation of the restaurants," Steven Peretz, Wade's attorney, told the Sun Sentinel. "This is an instance where D. Wade called a timeout on the expectation of the restaurants. The pilot restaurants have not shown any record for success."
