McCain to appear on Mad TV, not Saturday Night Live
In another piece of bad news for John McCain's struggling campaign, it turns out he won't be appearing on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" tomorrow as rumored, but rather Fox's low rated competitor "Mad TV."
"The Senator really wanted to appear on 'SNL,' but they couldn't fit us in because they already booked Masi Oka as the host," said a a McCain campaign spokesman. "The folks at 'Mad TV' were much nicer and said they would give us an entire skit, so long as we brought cameras, lights, and Subway sandwiches for the entire cast and crew."
Political communication experts noted that while McCain will reach a much smaller audience on "Mad TV" than he would have on "SNL," Fox's show might be a better fit for the types of voters he is hoping to turn out on Election Day.
"Most 'Mad TV' viewers tend to be disabled senior citizens unable to change the channel, low income familes who only receive Fox on their nearly broken TV antenna, or people with a unique form of brain damage in which they always choose the grossly inferior of two options," said John Krasnick, professor of politics and psychology at UC-Berkeley. "Those are also the three demographics that suveys show are most supportive of John McCain for president."

Sarah Palin joining SNL as Tina Fey Impersonator
Sarah Palin is getting ready to turn the tables on Tina Fey.
Dateline Hollywood has learned that the Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential candidate will appear on "Saturday Night Live" next week in a skit where she will impersonate "30 Rock" star and former "SNL" head writer Fey.
"We wanted to do something making fun of Tina's American Express ads and we were trying to figure out who could do a good impression of her," said a source at the show. "Then we realized, 'Hey, that Sarah Palin lady looks exactly like her.' And she was hilarious in her interview with Katie Couric, so we know she's got great comedy chops."
Palin is said to be considering joining the "SNL" cast full-time if her White House bid fails in November. "Sarah feels she's just as qualified to be a comedic actress as she is to be vice-president, so it's a very exciting opportunity," said a Palin advisor.

Amy Poehler Leaving "Saturday Night Live"
Aww, man! I'm gonna miss her on "Weekend Update."
No joke: Amy Poehler's leaving Saturday Night Live.
According to the Los Angeles Times, she tells the new issue of Men's Vogue that she is taking a break after the November election as she prepares to welcome her first child. And she won't be returning after maternity leave.
"It's gonna be really hard Boyz II Men hard to say goodbye to yesterday," she says. "SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down."
Poehler won't be off the small screen altogether. She has signed on for NBC's upcoming Office spin-off, set to air next year.
"I can kind of confirm that I will be working in some capacity on that show," she said in July. "I don't really have any other details yet."
Next up: The Emmys. She is nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for SNL.She generated laughs this past weekend, portraying Hillary Clinton in a sketch with Tina Fey, who played Sarah Palin. (From OMG! Yahoo/UsMagazine)
