GET IT GIRLS!

Jada Pinkett-Smith covers this week’s issue of JET magazine and talks family:
Petite powerhouse Jada Pinkett Smith may be the wife of actor and entertainer Will Smith, but there’s far more to this talented actress than meets the eye. In addition to her most important roles as mother and wife, she also wears many hats‹including writer, singer, producer and director‹to showcase her artistic diversity. As a Black woman I’ve really been trying to craft a line in my creative life to show that we can do anything, she says about her outlets of creative expression. I feel like that’s an important element to show because people will oftentimes try to keep us Œin our place, she told Jet magazine. Now that acting jobs for the Smith children are becoming more frequent, Pinkett Smith vows that there will be no box-office competition in her household. If this is really going to be our family business, we’re not doing that. Will was already [premiering] on Willow’s [premiere day] for American Girl with Hancock and I was like, bouncing baby, for real? We have to stay united. You can’t allow the business to come between family.

Keri Hilson shares some thoughts on her emergence as a solo artist on PageSIX:
“Everything I write has always been personal. The difference is now I can’t hide behind the person I’m writing for,” says R&B singer-songwriter Keri Hilson. The 25-year-old has been penning hits for stars like Mary J. Blige and Usher since she was 18, and is currently working on Britney Spears’ upcoming album Circus. “Britney already made a comeback!” says Keri, who also wrote the 2007 hit “Gimme More.” “That was a top 10 record.” But now Keri, who’s spending an increasing amount of time in the Big Apple, is finally set to drop her own sure-to-be-a-hit album, In a Perfect World…, in early November.

Joss Whedon takes sick day
Fans across the Internet were buzzing about the future of upcoming Fox drama "Dollhouse" on Friday after creator and executive producer Joss Whedon took a sick day, delaying production by as much as eight hours.
"This is the second time that Joss has taken a sick day from 'Dollhouse,' not to mention when he took that half day in August to fly to his cousin's wedding in Texas," said Tamara Brandt, assistant managing editor of Whedon-News.net. "Our commenters are starting to wonder whether this could mean that the series premiere will be pushed back by one or, Buffy forbid, two weeks."
Fox issued a statement claiming that Whedon ate some bad sushi on Thursday night and that other "Dollhouse" producers took over his responsibilities with only a minimal delay.
"We don't believe that for a second," Brandt responded. "It's like saying God got sick on the second day of Genesis and Paris Hilton filled in for Him."
Science-fiction TV fans say it's the second scare they have had this week, following news that
the writers room for Ron Moore's mid-season show "Virtuality" started work 90 minutes late on Tuesday because the "Battlestar Galactica" creator was caught in traffic.

Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing at ‘The Women Premiere’

Their latest flick is called The Women, so it was fitting that the movie's premiere should be a girly affair. Screen sirens Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith and Debra Messing teamed up with the rest of the all-female cast for a ladies' night to fete the sassy comedy drama on Thursday.
The new movie is a remake of the 1939 film of the same name, and focuses on a wealthy New Yorker - played by Meg - who leaves her unfaithful husband and strikes up friendships with other society women.
American Beauty actress Annette Bening was on hand for the red carpet event too, as were Sex And The City star Candice Bergen, model Eva Mendes and veteran entertainer Bette Midler.
It wasn't an exclusively girls-only do, though. Men In Black actor Will Smith turned out to support wife Jada, while Warren Beatty also played the role of supportive husband to wife of 16 years Annette.

Renee Zellweger and new dad Brad Pitt at Toronto for Western Premiere

Taking her second trip down the red carpet this year, actress Renee Zellweger stepped out with not one but two of Hollywood's leading men for the showing of her latest film, Appaloosa.
Elegant in a classic LBD, the Oscar-winning actress was in Toronto with handsome co-stars Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris, who also directed the western.
Following two friends hired to defend a town from a murderous rancher, Appaloosa sees Renee star as an attractive widow who tries to win over the two men. It's a role she relished.
"I enjoyed it," she reveals. "It would have been complicated if I lived in that period. Complicated and interesting."
Also in the Canadian city on Friday, was new dad Brad Pitt, who arrived with his Burn After Reading co-stars Tilda Swinton and John Malkovich for the screening of their film – much to the delight of the crowds.
The actor took the opportunity to dismiss speculation his partner, Angelina Jolie, was unwell after the birth of their twins, Knox and Vivienne, in July.
"All good. Everyone's healthy, and everyone's great," he told an interviewer, adding, "Sleep is something we long for, but that's alright, we'll get it."
