Diahann Carroll Talks Life and Love in New Memoir
As Wendy would say, "Mama has lived!"
When it comes to soul surviving, very few entertainers know it like Diahann Carroll knows.
The Bronx, New York born actress is a diva of the highest degree – but don't let her hear you say that. It's a term, according to the August 2008 edition of Vogue, the Tony and Golden Globe Award winner equates to "trash."
In her new memoir, 'The Legs Are The Last To Go: Aging, Acting, Marrying, and Other Things I Learned the Hard Way' (Amistad/Harper Collins), Carroll and all of her splendid grandiosity is on full display, warts and all. And that turns out to be a good thing.
Having starred in the first network sitcom – 'Julia' – revolving around a black woman in 1960s, Carroll went on to gain even more notoriety for playing "the first black 'bitch' in prime-time" in the 1980s.The first topic of discussion was digital media, the Internet and emailing, something the sophisticated lady admits to not being too familiar with.
"I'm for it because it makes the world move faster but maybe we're just a little bit too damn fast with everything," she stated, raising her left eyebrow in signature style to punctuate her point.
"Maybe we need to slow down a little bit and give ourselves a chance to refine something," she added.
When it comes to her new book, where she unflinchingly chronicles her life -- personally and professionally -- Carroll admitted to having to be pulled into the 21st century by her editor Dawn Davis to complete the project, which was six years in the making.
"There's more about it to tell, and each situation there's more about it to tell," she revealed of the page-turning tome that details her tumultuous affair with fellow black Hollywood trailblazer Sidney Poitier, along with other well-guarded nuggets from the golden days of entertainment.
"But today you guys are in such a hurry that you want to hear what it was, and to help you to evaluate it on the page is something that I don't think was of interest to anyone. [The goal was to] just tell the story."

Britney’s Mom Makes Shocking Allegations in New Memoir
Ummm wow! I've never felt so close to my own mother until I read this lol
Britney Spears picked up the bottle, started having sex and experimented with drugs -- all before turning sweet 16, her mom will allegedly claim in a new tell-all book set to rock the troubled star's shaky psyche.
Lynne Spears, 53, doesn't hold back in "Through the Storm," according to The Sun, which obtained a leaked copy of the memoir. In it, she supposedly claims Britney started drinking when she was only a 13-year-old Mousketeer and that she had sex with a high school senior when she was only 14. Of course, this would put down previous reports that she lost her virginity to Justin Timberlake.
In the book, the elder Spears reportedly admits allowing her daughter, now 26, to sleep with Timberlake when she was only 16 because she "was in love and Justin was good for her," a source told The Sun.
As for the habit that has dragged her down over the last few years? Mother Spears says her daughter first started taking drugs at 15 when she was recording her blockbuster debut, "bouncing baby One More Time."
The book also alleges that Britney, then 16, was caught with cocaine and marijuana on a private jet.
According to the leaked book, Lynne Spears expresses regret for handing over control of her daughters' affairs to business managers and allowing her to become exploited as a worldwide sex symbol at such a young age.
Not surprisingly, mother and daughter are currently estranged. The book is due on Sept. 16. (From AOL News)

Lynne Spears Unveils Parenting Book

Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears’ mom has some advice to give.
Lynne Spears’ long-awaited book about mothering her superstar spawn will be available in stores August 16.
The book, promises the cover, is “a real story of fame and family in a tabloid world.”
Through the Storm apparently aims to show the Spears’ life from a mother’s perspective, as opposed to the way the tabloids show their family.
“Lynne was just an ordinary Southern mom when the overnight success of her daughter Britney shoved the Spears family into the blinding limelight glare,” says a press release for the book.
The memoir was set to hit stores over Mother’s Day, but news of 17-year-old Jamie Lynn’s pregnancy put a hold on the release date.
