MYA IS MISS INDEPENDENT

R&B diva Mýa may be down but she is not out of the game. The tap dancing, D.C. native was let go by her label Motown last year. Currently, the singer is working on her 6th studio album due this summer and to be released on her own independent label, entitled Planet 9. Mýa has leaked brand new songs titled “Height Of My ” and “Take It Back”. In spite of the fact that the she doesn't really shine on either track they are still worth a listen. Famed Singer Charlie Wilson Diagnosed with Cancer

I adore the 'Gap Band.' Songs like "Yearning for Your " and "Outstanding" get heavy rotation in my world. Every major R&B singer to date has bitten some nuance of this man's ----R. Kelly, Aaron Hall, etc. On top of Charlie's successes with the 'Gap Band', he's been able to reinvent in recent years himself working with artists like and Pharell. Let's hope for a speedy recovery!


With the release of his second solo album, 'Uncle Charlie,' less than two weeks away, famed R&B artist Charlie Wilson has announced that he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.The 'Yearning For Your ' singer was diagnosed with the male-reproductive last fall and began therapy on Nov. 21. Wilson's sudden diagnosis has lead him to team up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation to help raise awareness and research funds for prostate cancer.

"When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September, I thought to myself 'I'm too young... this isn't a cancer I should be getting,'" Wilson said in a statement.

"While I was surprised to discover that this strikes one out of every six American men, I was astounded to learn that African American men are 1.6 times more likely than others to be diagnosed with prostate cancer. My , Mahin, and I are very fortunate. I was lucky to be diagnosed and begin treatment early. My prognosis is excellent."

And 'Outstanding' he is!The former Gap Band front man has already started utilizing his star status to help inform more African American men of the illness. Men are 35 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer than women are to be diagnosed with breast cancer.

"I am excited to be working with the PCF. They are the cruising force behind many of the advances that have been made in prostate cancer treatment to date," says Wilson. "Their work has helped reduce the rate by nearly 40 percent in the past few years. Together, I believe we can make an important impact."

The Grammy-nominated artist also noted that his 's support has played a major in his recent campaign.

"We men don't want to consider or vocalize our vulnerabilities. It was my who kept after me to see my doctor for a screening," he revealed. "I thank God she did. Now I feel compelled to spread the word about prostate cancer."

This spring, Wilson will be taking his message on the road with him and overseas to U.S. troops in and Kuwait while touring in support of his forthcoming album. Nas Announces Collaboration with Damian Marley

I wonder how this will turn out. These collaborative efforts don't always translate into record sales or even much recognition, save a little here and there. "Best of Both Worlds," anyone? How about "Face Off?"


Grammy-nominated rapper Nas has announced plans to release an upcoming collaboration album with singer Damian Marley. The Queens, New York-bred emcee confirmed the forthcoming project at Sunday's Grammy Awards.

"Right now, I'll tell you first, I'm working on an album with Damian Marley, and we tryin' to build some schools in Africa with this one, and trying to build empowerment," Nas said. "We're tryin' to show and stuff with this album. So, the record's ... all about really the 'hood and Africa also as well. 9 Year Old Writes Popular iPhone Application

I'd buy an iPhone just to play this "Etch-A-Sketch" game lol


You might think you're pretty hot stuff because you've figured out how to change your Facebook status from your iPhone, but you've got nothing on nine-year-old Lim Ding Wen.

This young prodigy from Singapore is fluent in six programming languages, according to a BBC report this week, and his newest creation, an iPhone drawing game called Doodle Kids, has racked up over 4,000 downloads in just two weeks. He wrote it for his younger sisters, who to draw.

Doodle Kids, which lets players sketch with their fingers on the iPhone's screen and shake it, Etch-A-Sketch-, to clear, has already racked up a healthy three-and-a-half star rating on the App Store. One reviewer commented: "Awesome app!...Amazing that something like this was made by a 9 year old". (From Yahoo! Videogames)

Nick Lachey prepares for role of a lifetime on ‘One Tree Hill’

Nick_lachey Singer and reality TV star Nick Lachey will appear on the CW series "One Tree Hill" later this season. Lachey has been reported to be taking acting classes for his role as "Nick Duchey," a former reality star, boy band member, singer and to Vanessa Manillo. Nick says that he studied the "method acting technique" to get into character. 

"I wanted to live, eat and breathe Duchey," says Lache.  "What makes a character like Nick Duchey tick?  Is he a good singer?  Do people buy his albums?  How much could he get paid to appear at a chili cookoff?"

Lachey says that he is excited to appear in "Tree" but wonders who will be watching the show if he is in it.

 "I the show, and I watch it all the time, but if I am in the show and not at home watching the show, who will watch it? Whoa! I just blew my mind."

Breaking News: Conan O’Brien to take over Jay Leno’s 10 pm show in 2010

610x Just weeks after Jay Leno announced that it would be staying at NBC and starting a nightly 10 pm show, a visibly annoyed Leno took part in another news conference late this afternoon with NBC Entertainment chiefs Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff.

"Jay has agreed that in 2010, Conan O'Brien will be taking over 'The Jay Leno Show' which premieres this fall on NBC," said Silverman. "Jay has graciously agreed to turn over the show to Conan in 2010. We Jay Leno. He's an important part of the NBC family."

"I write jokes, that's what I do.  You know, I don't have an agent or a manager. I just write jokes," said Leno.

Leno was able to convince the NBC bosses that the show keep its original name. When O'Brien takes over in 2010, it will be called "The Jay Leno Show with Conan O'Brien."

***UPDATE***

Sources now say NBC executives fear they have made a serious mistake by giving O'Brien "The Jay Leno Show" and are trying to convince Leno to stay with the network after he turns over the program to O'Brien in 2010. Executives are discussing the possibility of having Leno stay at NBC by having Jay replace Billy Bush on "Access ."

FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS


Happy to R&B singer Aaliyah. A star in the R&B world before she was even out of her teens, who would have been just 30 years young today but 's promising career was tragically cut short by her in a plane crash at age 22. Even with only three albums under her belt, she'd already earned a place as a talented trendsetter among the R&B elite. Gone, but not forgotten.... Happy bouncing baby gyrl. You are truly missed. ~ E3 Gossip!
