Season Over for Plaxico Burress

I have no words for this moron ::SMH::

Plaxico Burress reported to Giants Stadium to learn his season is over. The New York Giants placed Burress on the reserve/non- list Tuesday, officially ending his season. The anticipated move came one day after Burress was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Manhattan nightclub the previous weekend.

The Giants fined Burress and suspended him for four games for conduct detrimental to the team for multiple and repeated violations of club rules. Should the defending Super Bowl champions make the playoffs, which is a mere formality given their 11-1 record, Burress will not be allowed to return to the Giants’ active list.

“As we have said since Saturday morning, our concern is for Plaxico’s health and well-being,” Giants president John Mara said. “This is an important time for him to take care of his body and heal up and also deal with the very serious legal consequences and other issues in his life.“When I spoke with Plaxico, he expressed great remorse for letting down his teammates.”

It marked the second suspension this season for Burress, who likely has played his final game in a Giants uniform.

One of the heroes of New York’s surprising victory in Super Bowl XLII, Burress posted $100,000 bail Monday after being charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon - a Glock semiautomatic pistol - and third-degree possession for carrying the ammunition clip.
Both are Class C felonies, for which Burress could be sentenced to a mandatory minimum of 3 1/2 years in if convicted.

Per league rules, Burress was required to report to work Tuesday to receive mandatory treatment on both the gunshot wound and the strained right hamstring that initially sidelined him for this past Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.

The veteran wide receiver, who caught the winning pass in Super Bowl XLII, met with Mara, general manager Jerry Reese and head coach Tom Coughlin to learn of his plumpe. For more on the dubious incident that is sidelining Plaxico, read here. (From Yahoo Sports)

Shia LaBeouf’s Hand "Crushed"

There are new details about the extent of Shia LaBeouf's hand —and they're not pretty.

LaBeouf's left hand was "crushed" in last weekend's rollover car crash, and the young star will require "regular medical supervision until his doctors clear him to return to work," LaBeouf attorney Michael Norris said in a statement Friday.

There was no new timetable for LaBeouf's return to work on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the big-budget sequel the actor had been shooting. Earlier, pre-"crushed" reports said LaBeouf would be out a month.

A rep for Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the Transformers franchise, told E! News today that "no final decisions have been made" as to whether LaBeouf's will be written into the new movie. The studio is prepared to modify its schedule for LaBeouf as needed, the rep said.

Elsewhere, LaBeouf's publicist Melissa Kates declined comment on an Entertainment Tonight report that the 22-year-old had been released from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

LaBeouf's sick-bay journey began last Sunday when, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the pickup truck he was driving collided with a motorist running a red light.

"The other driver may have been traveling upwards of 50 mile per hour, and that driver may not have been looking forward at the time of the accident," Norris said.

The other driver and LaBeouf's passenger, Transformers costar Isabel Lucas, sustained minor injuries.

In the days following the crash, authorities went out of their way to note LaBeouf was not at fault. In his statement, Norris thanked "the many concerned citizens who have stepped forward to provide information regarding this collision."

LaBeouf still faces a misdemeanor DUI charge as officers responding to the crash found the injured actor was, the sheriff's department said, "exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication."

The recuperating LaBeouf, late of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has yet to be arraigned on the charge.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sequel to 2007's Transformers, has been set for a June 2009 release.

Celebrities unharmed by earthquake

Earthquake A 5.8 magnitude earthquake shook the Los Angeles area late Tuesday morning, leaving millions of Americans worried about whether any of their favorite celebrities suffered minor injuries or if their personal property or children were harmed.

"Are Reese and Jake OK? This earthquake couldn't have come at a worse time with them just starting their relationship!" frantic Oklahoma housewife Jeanne Fodlinger wrote on a message board. "What about and all their kids? And that nice new vase I heard she bought in France? Why hasn't TMZ told us?!?!?!?!"

However, the U.S. Geological Survey's Hollywood star Bureau confirmed to Dateline Hollywood that it did not track any seismic activity higher than 3.0 at the homes of any prominent celebs, making the chances of or damage extremely low.

"We are quite certain that no famous people ranked more important than Wil Wheaton were impacted by this quake," said the USGS's Dan Golisano. "We also think several dozen non-celebrities were severely injured, though we haven't had time to look into that yet.
