Season Over for Plaxico Burress

I have no words for this moron ::SMH::

Plaxico Burress reported to Giants Stadium to learn his season is over. The New York Giants placed Burress on the reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday, officially ending his season. The anticipated move came one day after Burress was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Manhattan nightclub the previous weekend.

The Giants fined Burress and suspended him for four games for conduct detrimental to the team for multiple and repeated violations of club rules. Should the defending Super Bowl champions make the playoffs, which is a mere formality given their 11-1 record, Burress will not be allowed to return to the Giants’ active list.

“As we have said since Saturday morning, our concern is for Plaxico’s health and well-being,” Giants president John Mara said. “This is an important time for him to take care of his body and heal up and also deal with the very serious legal consequences and other issues in his life.“When I spoke with Plaxico, he expressed great remorse for letting down his teammates.”

It marked the second suspension this season for Burress, who likely has played his final game in a Giants uniform.

One of the heroes of New York’s surprising victory in Super Bowl XLII, Burress posted $100,000 bail Monday after being charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon - a Glock semiautomatic pistol - and third-degree possession for carrying the ammunition clip.
Both are Class C felonies, for which Burress could be sentenced to a mandatory minimum of 3 1/2 years in jail if convicted.

Per league rules, Burress was required to report to work Tuesday to receive mandatory treatment on both the gunshot wound and the strained right hamstring that initially sidelined him for this past Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.

The veteran wide receiver, who caught the winning pass in Super Bowl XLII, met with Mara, general manager Jerry Reese and head coach Tom Coughlin to learn of his plumpe. For more on the dubious incident that is sidelining Plaxico, read here. (From Yahoo Sports)

Emmy Awards Cancelled

Emmys_2 The major television networks and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences made a joint announcement Monday that they are canceling the Emmy Awards. Last night's 60th annual ceremony will be the last for the veritable Hollywood institution.

The decision came, insiders said, after record low ratings for last night's ceremony came in. The Emmys were not only demolished by Sunday Night Football, but also came in behind a re-run of Sunday morning's "Meet the Press" on MSNBC and an open heart surgery on Discovery Health.

"It's time to accept that a celebration of the best TV has to offer is not appealing to TV viewers," the major networks said in a joint statement. "The ratings for last night's Emmys were even worse than for 'Mad Men' and '30 Rock' and all the other critically acclaimed, hugely unpopular shows that won the big awards."

Though it has been officially canceled, some in Hollywood are working on ways to keep the Emmys alive. In addition to lobbying efforts to get HBO or Showtime to pick up the Awards, Fox is proposing a new version of the show where celebrities would win Emmys by competing in a series of events drawn from game shows "The Wall," "Moment of Truth," and "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?"

Jessica Simpson: Abuse confession

Singer makes confession as she talks about album

Jessica Simpson has revealed a song on her album is based on her own experience of abuse.

The singer made the admission when talking about her forthcoming country record, Do You Know.

But the 28-year-old refused to reveal the details.

'I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run,' she reveals.

But Jessica is determined to stick up for herself.

‘So many people want to bring me down, and I can’t wait to prove them wrong,’ she tells Elle.

‘If [people] believe what they read about me, they automatically persecute and torment me.’

Jessica is currently dating American football star Tony Romo, 28.

VICTORIA’S SECRET PINK ADDS HBCU’S

When Victoria’s Secret Pink rolled out its nationwide collegiate collection in June, featuring the names and logos of some 33 universities on sweats, hoodies, football tees, and totes, the promotion didn’t include any historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). This fall, the brand plans to include five HBCUs in the second phase of its collegiate collection.

The first HBCU schools that will roll off the Pink line will be Howard University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, North Carolina A&T University, and Southern University. “We have agreements with the licensees who handle collegiate apparel for those schools, and this has been in the works for some time,” says Richard A. Dent III, chief operating officer for Pink. Dent adds that the company plans to include students from the schools in internships at Victoria’s Secret, and feature promotions at their homecoming events. Pink, a collection of loungewear geared toward young, college-aged women, first appeared in Victoria’s Secret stores in 2004. Since then, the brand has solidified its success within the parent company, Limited Brands, a retailing behemoth that includes Bath & Body Works and Henri Bendel. Dent says he didn’t view Reid’s Facebook group negatively. “We encourage people to be vocal [about our product],he says. “Victoria’s Secret and Pink’s mission is to have relationships with our customers.”
