Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaving "The View?"

Not that I would miss her terribly lol But she is a good foil for everyone else on the show and let's face it, we all love their heated arguments and debates. Both sides of the political spectrum should always be present.

"The View's" Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reportedly "really upset" about the recent political discussions (i.e. the upcoming presidential election) that have been taking place on her daytime gab fest. As the lone Republican on the talk panel -- not to mention the youngest -- she just can't seem to win against her loud, liberal counterparts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg.

While tensions are high on set, a "View" staff member told the Chicago Sun-Times that things aren't as bad as they were during the Rosie O'Donnell era. Still, it's bad enough that Barbara Walters has set up a "cooling off" meeting for her ladies.

Rumor has it that Elisabeth may even be leaving "The View" to host her own program on the FOX News Channel, where she can be with her own "kind" ... and not have to face off with Joy and Whoopi on a daily basis! That sort of makes me sad.

Although I think Hasselbeck often comes across as being out of touch, uninformed, and immature, I must admit that the outspoken 31-year-old makes for some good television!

Fortunately, Elisabeth got to take a break from all of her work drama over the weekend with her little girl Grace. (Doesn't the 3-year-old look a lot like her daddy, NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck?) The mother-daughter duo attended a special screening of "Sleeping Beauty" in NYC, celebrating the Disney flick's 50th anniversary. Maybe she's not so bad after all. (From OMG Yahoo!)

‘Dane Cook is not very funny,’ says Dane Cook

424456312 Comedian-actor Cook made headlines in mid-August when he wrote a lengthy post on his MySpace page criticizing the poster for the new romantic comedy "My Best Friend's Girl" from Lionsgate in which he stars with Kate Hudson. Many people were surprised to read that he was so critical of a yet-to-be-released movie that he was a big part of.  Now he has posted another lengthy diatribe on his page saying how he thinks Dane Cook "is not very funny."  Here's some of what he had to say:

"Have you guys seen this Dane Cook guy?  Two words. Not funny. I'm not sure why people find Dane Cook so damn funny. He jumps around on the stage like a monkey. I just don't get it, but the kids, they love him."

A call to Dane Cook's publicist confirmed that the comedian has passed that Hollywood star threshold where he now refers to himself in the third person. Still, it's good to see such honesty from a Hollywood star.  According to a recent Dateline Hollywood poll, the biggest laugh Cook recently received was when he appeared in the drama "Mr. Brooks" and his character was killed with a shovel.

The Five Worst TV spinoffs

Frasier was great. So was The Jeffersons.  But many spinoffs have not been successful. In other words, they sucked! So Dateline Hollywood is listing the worst TV spinoffs of all time.

# 5.  Jake

Jake Spun Off From: Becker

Premise:  On the CBS sitcom Becker, actor Alex Desert played the role of Jake Malinak, the blind magazine stand owner.  CBS decided to give Jake his own sitcom titled Jake as Becker went off the air. On the spinoff, Jake got a new job as an air traffic controller.

Why it Sucked: With 9/11 still on the minds of many Americans, the laughs fell completely flat as blind Jake tried to unsuccessfully coordinate the landing of jetliners at JFK airport in New York City. The show explained that a discrimination suit against the FAA had led Jake to his new job. In the pilot episode, Jake lets one plane take off while another is landing on the same runway causing a crash. Jokes such as "I did not SEE that one coming" were simplistic and tasteless. We guess they were blind to comedy. The show ran for only one episode.

# 4.  Baywatch Alaska

Baywatchalaska Spun Off From: Baywatch

Premise:  While Baywatch had David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson and the Hoff then continued with Baywatch Hawaii, this other spinoff Baywatch Alaska failed to captivate audiences.

Why it Sucked: At least with the original, we got to see a lot of skin on those hot female lifeguards, and female fans loved those bronzed chiseled male lifeguards.  But Baywatch Alaska was a bitter disappointment. Sure there was a lot of action on the Alaskan bay, but not enough skin. Bad idea. This short-lived show in syndication was canceled after one season. It still does well in repeats in Canada.

# 3.  K*I*D*S M*A*S*H
Kidsmash
Spun Off From: M*A*S*H

Premise:  When M*A*S*H was a big hit in 1970s on CBS, network executives tried to cash in on the show's success with a Saturday morning cartoon titled K*I*D*S M*A*S*H.

Why it Sucked: The same themes from the primetime show were present in the cartoon and it simply became an animated black comedy/medical drama. The second episode of the cartoon featured a young soldier who had his legs blown off by a Korean mine and the cartoon Hawkeye character has to wait for the kid to wake up from surgery to tell him he'll never walk again.  The cartoon Klinger bursts into the room dressed as a woman and the soldier, still feeling the effects of the anesthesia, thinks Klinger his his Mom who he thought died back home while he was fighting against the Koreans. Needless to say, the cartoon was canceled after the second episode. However, some critics maintain the animated kids show was still better than the other spinoff After M*A*S*H.

# 2.  SIPOWICZ

Nypdspinoff Spun Off From: NYPD Blue

Premise:  When NYPD Blue went off the air, producer Steven Bochco decided to give Dennis Franz's character, Detective Andy Sipowicz, his own show.  Instead of ABC, the program aired on Cinemax as Bocho wanted to push the envelope further.

Why it Sucked: The show focused a lot on Det. Sipowicz's sex life and the scenes on pay cable  Cinemax were explicit and disturbing, and -- oh yeah -- totally gross. Franz had bared his butt a few times on ABC, but on Cinemax, viewers got a lot more than they had bargained for.  Full frontal  nudity became a staple of the show and little Sipowicz made a weekly appearance.  As for the action part of the show, Sipowicz was no longer a cop in the spinoff, but a mall security guard. The storyline in the pilot focused on Andy trying to discover who had made off with a dirty board from a Spencer Gifts store. The show just lasted one season.

# 1.  RETARDS SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS

Saythedarndest Spun Off From: Kids Say the Darndest Things

Premise:  When Kids Say the Darndest Things started to slip in the ratings, producers decided to spin it off into another show, also starring Bill Cosby. Instead of interviewing kids, Cosby sat down with mentally challenged adults.

Why it Sucked: Cosby constantly mugged for the camera while talking to the slow adults. Part of the problem was that the answers the people gave hardly made sense. At least with the kids, their answers were silly but well-meaning. When Cosby asked a man why he thought the sky was blue, the slow adult answered by saying, "I'd like tomato  soup tomorrow" and "I like oranges." The show last only two seasons.

Trailer: The Soloist

This might actually be pretty good! Here's what they had to say about it over at Sohh.com:

Funny man, Jaime Foxx, might be on his way to yet another Oscar as his role in the brand new movie "The Soloist" is scheduled to hit the silver screen this fall.

The movie centers around a man [Jaime Foxx] who is a talented musician who is plagued by a mental illness. But he meets a reporter [Robert Downey, Jr.] for a Los Angele's paper together forge surprising and unbreakable friendship.

Foxx went through a dramatic weight loss to play the role. I hear he lost an impressive 30lbs.This film is already getting Oscar buzz as some are saying that this Jaime's best work yet.

Joss Whedon takes sick day

Whedon_2Fans across the Internet were buzzing about the future of upcoming Fox drama "Dollhouse" on Friday after creator and executive producer Joss Whedon took a sick day, delaying production by as much as eight hours.

"This is the second time that Joss has taken a sick day from 'Dollhouse,' not to mention when he took that half day in August to fly to his cousin's wedding in Texas," said Tamara Brandt, assistant managing editor of Whedon-News.net. "Our commenters are starting to wonder whether this could mean that the series premiere will be pushed back by one or, Buffy forbid, two weeks."

Fox issued a statement claiming that Whedon ate some bad sushi on Thursday night and that other "Dollhouse" producers took over his responsibilities with only a minimal delay.

"We don't believe that for a second," Brandt responded. "It's like saying God got sick on the second day of Genesis and Paris Hilton filled in for Him."

Science-fiction TV fans say it's the second scare they have had this week, following news that
the writers room for Ron Moore's mid-season show "Virtuality" started work 90 minutes late on Tuesday because the "Battlestar Galactica" creator was caught in traffic.
