Janet Jackson on Rock Witchu tour sobs while blown away by her fans



With a lifetime of performing behind her, pop songstress Janet Jackson can still be blown away by her fans, it seems.

Performing the first night of her Rock Witchu tour of North America, the 42-year-old sobbed onstage as the audience screamed and cheered their appreciation.

Looking curvaceous in a sexy gold lame catsuit, Janet unveiled her first tour in seven years in Vancouver. The 36 songs performed by the star featured hits voted for by fans through a telephone call-in. The Rhythm Nation star would listen to their messages and then personally telephone the callers back to discuss further what they would like to hear.

As the singer took to the set's catwalk for her song Together Again, her eighth Billboard No 1, the crowd went wild.

Standing at the end of the set's catwalk, the youngest of the Jackson clan had to fight back the tears as she thanked her loyal fans.

Rihanna kicks off New York Fashion Week




New York style Week kicked off in an explosion of style and sounds on Friday as a host of some of the trendiest stars around flocked to Radio City Music Hall for the fifth style Rocks event.

Making her mark was stylish Barbadian Rihanna. The beautiful Umbrella singer looked gorgeous in a black ruffled Monique Lhuiller frock at her arrival. She later donned a glitzy leotard to wow the audience with a showgirl performance. Black-Eyed Peas singer Fergie, meanwhile, went for boho chic with a Gucci outfit featuring an ethnic-inspired blouse.

Fellow songstress Beyonce donned several glamorous looks for her time in the spotlight. Performing with SexyBack star Justin Timberlake, the former Destiny's Child singer sparkled in a Jean-Paul Gaultier catsuit with plunging neckline. Then it was a change of look – with short blonde wig – with a classy Zuhair Murad cocktail dress, in this season's key mustard colour.

Not to be outdone, the stars of the silver screen were also showing their style credentials. Fresh from watching the catwalks was Charlize Theron, casually chic in tight fitting trousers matched with a silver blazer she had earlier seen on the Rag And Bone runway that day.

And Hilary Swank was lovely in lilac in a one-shouldered couture dress from Givenchy.

Scary Spice Mel B: Comes to New York Fashion Week Spring 2009




Scary Spice Mel B, 33, is to come at New York style Week Spring 2009 presenting Ultimo underwear.

Melanie Brown signed up as the new face and body of the lingerie brand Ultimo in April 2008. She will show their new line along with designers Philip Lim, DKNY, Diesel Black Gold, Herve Leger, Betsey Johnson, Ralph Lauren and Rock & Republic next Tuesday.

Michelle Mone created Ultimo, that is the very first British lingerie model house to show theirs collection at New York style Week, and Michelle is one of the few Scottish designers to have their linen grace its catwalks.

Mel B said:

I am thrilled to be representing Ultimo at New York style Week. I’m so passionate about Ultimo’s designs and I can’t wait for the crowd’s reaction to what Michelle and the team will be sending down the runway.”

Michelle said:

I could not believe it when I received the phone call from New York; I honestly thought it was a wind up! You don’t get much bigger than New York style Week.

"To be showing in one of the most prominent style cities in the world, alongside such well-established designers, is just phenomenal. It will be a huge honour and a fantastic opportunity for us to shine under the international spotlight, and to establish Ultimo on a global level. I’m also delighted to be joined by Mel B, who is an amazing ambassador for Ultimo.”

Supermodel: Gisele Bundchen Max Factor ’s new face





Beautiful Brazilian Gisele Bundchen is already one of the world’s most famous models and one of the World’s Richest Supermodels. Bundchen has walked the world’s high style catwalks and has been the face of Victoria’s Secret, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana and Apple. She is poised to enlarge her reach even further into the world of beauty and agreed to become the new face of cosmetics company Max Factor, replacing Carmen Electra, who’s had a three-year run with the company.

In addition to launching Gisele Bundchen starring ad campaign, MAX Factor is celebrating 100th anniversary in early 2009.

"MAX Factor is a brand that has touched some of the most glamorous faces in the world for the last 100 years,” said Bundchen. “But more than that, I love that this was the original brand to make that professional artistry and glamour available to everyday women, and I’m honored to work with MAX Factor in continuing that great tradition.”

Gisele’s role as the newest MAX Factor face depicts a thrilling new look of the brand’s long-standing inheritance of putting style-forward, modern makeup views within reach for all women with its line of professional quality products. Her ad campaign for Lipfinity Lip Collection and ColorGenius Face Collection for the product will start showing up on magazines in October 2008.

Bruce Katsman, associate marketing director for Factor and its sister brand, Cover Girl, noted that Bündchen will be working with makeup artist Pat McGrath, who is also P&G’s global creative design director.

Associate marketing director Bruce Katsman called choosing Bundchen “a no-brainer.”

"She’s the image of our high style consumer,” he says. “It’s not so much about her look, per se. She’s rocked the runway so she’s perceived as a great canvas. We think she does the same thing for makeup.”

Gisele Bundchen says in a telephone interview about her chameleonlike quality:

"There’s been the androgynous look and the classical pretty girls. I’m not one and I’m not the other, but I can look androgynous or I can look pretty — but I’ll never look too much one way or the other”

In the new ad Gisele is doing light makeup. Her long hair is being pulled back on top of her head. She’s demonstrating her left shoulder, dressing only what appeared to be a pink furry coat. Her face looks seductive, with both her eyes looking at the camera and her lips opened.

"I thought it was really cool to be a part of something so old,” Bundchen says. “I can’t believe something can exist for that long. For a business to stay alive for that long, it must be really good.”

Gisele adds:

Imagine what I’d look at 100 years old?!"

Mr. Max Factor, the plumpher of recent makeup, revolutionized the views of beauty and style 100 years ago on the Hollywood movies with the producing of his perfect makeup line. His work began on films in 1909.

It’s thanks to the legacy of Max Factor & Company that we were given the first “waterproof” makeup in 1971.

Kate Moss: Runway comeback first catwalk show in four years




Kate Moss, 34, did a exultant comeback to walk the runway in her first catwalk show in more than four years.

The model arrived with boyfriend Jamie, hairdresser James Brown and friend Fran Cutler at 10.30pm at The House Of Blue Eyes style show in Shepherd’s Bush last night as a favour to her friend, designer Johnny Blue Eyes at his first style show. Johnny Blue Eyes produced his new collection.

A source backstage said:

She was really excited, which surprised most people there as she always gives off the impression of being quite calm.

The show was hosted by Scissor Sisters’ singer Ana Matronic. Kate joined Beth Ditto of The Gossip in the show, which was attended by lots of her friends. Beth Ditto made her modelling debut in a tight pink clown costume.

When the show started, Kate Moss ran to the side of the stage and grabbed a top hat and switch from the rails and started snaping a whip Beth for fun, more as a kind of show.

Kate Moss was overheard joking:

'I’m going to be your pimp tonight’.’
