Obama Logs on to YouTube
Not that I log on to YouTube for anything but ridiculousness, but I could make an exception and squeeze our President in between JD and Diddy lol
President-elect Barack Obama has announced today (November 14) a new plan to begin recording weekly Democratic addresses for YouTube and radio broadcast this weekend.According to Variety, Obama will extend his stride in history making, along with being the first ever U.S. African-American President, by taping his messages to the nation prior to his January inauguration, and proceeding to broadcast them throughout his run in office.
"President-elect Obama will continue to record and make available the Democratic radio address on video when he is in the White House," a transition team member told Variety. "No President-elect has ever turned the radio address into a multimedia opportunity before. This is just one of many ways that President-elect Obama will communicate directly with the American people and make the White House and the political process more transparent."
Aiming to develop a closer relationship to the American citizens via the Internet much like former President Franklin D. Roosevelt did with his radio messages, Obama is expected to build off the online success.
"The Obama team has written the playbook on how to use YouTube for political campaigns," YouTube rep Steve Grove told Variety. "
Obama told us in a YouTube interview last year that he plans to have 'fireside chats' on video, and we expect his administration will launch a White House YouTube channel very soon after taking office.
Viewers are expected to witness video interviews, Q&A sessions along with a more transparent image of the White House. The videos will reportedly be posted every Saturday. (From Sohh.com)

Final presidential debate to feature cooking segment
The second presidential debate featured a town hall format in which the candidates felt quite comfortable talking to voters. Now there's a report that the final debate will feature a 20 minute cooking segment. It's an unprecedented event during a presidential debate that has surprised a lot of political pundits. But both the McCain and Obama campaigns are on board.
"You've got to understand that both candidates are trying to connect with those undecided voters," says Prof. Joseph Claskew of Aruna College of Political Studies. "Americans watch a lot of television. They love talk shows, and they especially love it when the shows have those cooking segments. It actually makes a lot of sense to have the candidates in a cooking segment. It will make them seem more human. Plus, Americans will get to see if either candidate can stand the heat in the kitchen."
The Providence Record reports that John McCain has been consulting with Martha Stewart while Barack Obama has been prepping with Rachel Ray. There's an unconfirmed report that McCain's camp is trying to negotiate an animal segment with Jack Hannah. There are a lot of undecided animal lovers who would like to see how the candidates handle animals.

Actress poses for Declare Yourself campaign
Thursday, 2 October 2008
Jessica Alba has been snapped wearing a plastic muzzle for a new advert.
The actress is raising awareness for Declare Yourself, a campaign encouraging young Americans to vote.
Wearing a Hannibal Lecter mask, Jess, 27, looks desperately into the camera, tears streaming down her face.
‘Only you can silence yourself,’ reads the tagline. ‘Make them hear you. Register to vote now.’
Last month she posed for a similar ad, in which she had her mouth taped shut.
The presidential election takes place between John McCain and Barack Obama on 4 November.

President Bush calls on Howie Mandel to help broker bailout deal
In an extraordinary meeting in the West Wing of the The White House, President Bush met with key lawmakers including John McCain and Barack Obama as well as the host of NBC's "Deal or No Deal," Howie Mandel.
"The nation is facing a serious economic crisis and we need quick action from Congress on this $700 Billion financial bailout," said President Bush. "All of these people in this room take this situation very seriously. Howie Mandel is very familiar with money and making deals, and of course, no deals."
Washington insiders are surprised that Mandel was called to the meeting, but his Hollywood star status may be a key in trying to convince skeptical lawmakers to pass the Bush Administration's bailout plan. Although, there are some complaints from Washington officials that briefcase girl number 18 was allowed into the meeting.
Mandel interrupted the President twice during the meeting as he received two calls from the Banker from "Deal or No Deal" and kept offering various amounts of money to the lawmakers in the room if they took the proposed deal.

Jay-Z Gives Free Shows in Support of Barack
I usually feel funny about musicians using their influence in politics but since this is directly related to Barack's campaign, I'll cosign just this once...
Hip-Hop star Jay-Z will lend support to Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and encourage young people to vote by giving two free concerts this weekend, AllHipHop.com has learned.
Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, will perform a free show in Detroit on Saturday (October 4) followed by another free performance in Miami on Saturday (October 5). Tickets for the free concerts will be distributed at Obama’s local campaign offices, AllHipHop.com has confirmed.
Obama, who admitted a fondness for Jay-Z and Kanye West, expressed his support for Hip-Hop during an interview with MTV Host/Hip-Hop personality Sway, following a presidential rally in Greensboro, North Carolina.
He also praised the entrepreneurial mind state that rappers often possess.
“In the past, musicians oftentimes were commodities.” Obama told MTV News. “They were just shuffled around…they did well, but they didn't have the vision to say, 'I'm going to build a business. I'm going to build my own studio. I'm going to create my own production operations.' I think they're a lot more sophisticated than in the past, and that is a wonderful thing."
In related news, Obama will debate Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain two more times: once in Tennessee on October 7 and again in New York on October 15. (From Allhiphop.com)
