Video: Obama Gives Tough Speech at NAACP Anniversary Celebration

President Barack had a tough-love message for fellow African-Americans on Thursday, urging black to push their children to think beyond dreams of being stars or music performers. 's election as the first African-American president buoyed the black community. At the 100th anniversary celebration of the NAACP, the country's oldest civil rights group, he urged blacks to take greater responsibility for themselves and move away from reliance on government programs.

"We need a new mindset, a new set of attitudes -- because one of the most durable and destructive legacies of discrimination is the way that we have internalized a sense of limitation; how so many in our community have come to expect so little of ourselves," he said.

BEYONCE REVEALS INAUGURATION PERFORMANCE SONG

This is E3 Official... Beyoncé Knowles has revealed the song she'll sing for Barack and Michelle 's first dance on inauguration night Tuesday. "I am so honored that I will be performing for President and the First Lady,..." "To sing 'At Last' while they have their first dance is a dream come true," she says. "I could not be more honored and excited that they have asked me to be part of this moment in history." Knowles had been vocal about wanting to be a part of 's inauguration. "I'm there. I can't wait," she said in November. "I feel like all of us, we're ready to do whatever we have to do. Beyonce Singing for Obamas’ First Dance

As long as it's not that damn "Single Ladies," I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief lol


Beyonce will provide the vocal styling for Barack and Michelle 's first dance on inauguration night, but will she perform one of her chart topping hits?

According to the Associated Press the Presidential Inaugural Committee hopes to keep the song selection a mystery. Linda Douglas, a spokeswoman for the Committee tells AP: "It is our hope that we can keep the song secret until the moment."

Beyonce has expressed her desire to be a part of the inauguration since was elected and she told a reporter in November: "Whatever they want -- if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I'm there, and I'm ready."

The singer and actress will also perform at the Neighborhood Ball on ABC along with Jay-Z, will.i.am, Mariah Carey,, Shakira, Sting, Faith Hill, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder and Maroon 5. , Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kate Walsh will be presenters at the ball. (From Entertainment Tonight/MSN)

Rihanna Performing at RIAA Inaugural Ball

So much for all those high caliber performers vying to be a part of the President-Elect's festivities lol The people want Mrs. and all her "-ella -ella -ella" glory...snore !


R&B superstar has been selected to perform at next month's Presidential Inauguration Charity Ball in Washington, DC. According to People, the Grammy winning singer's presence at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) event supporting President-elect Barack will also help provide food for millions of people across the nation.

"We could not be happier that will be performing at the Inauguration charity ball to benefit Feeding America," FA president Vicki Escarra told People. "'s involvement will help raise awareness about the prevalence of hunger in America and help bring more aid to the 36 million Americans who do not always know where they will find their next meal."

Along with , other performers are set to be in the nation's capitol on Inauguration night including Beyonce, T.I., Ludacris, T-Pain, Fantasia and more.
