Phil Spector to debut ‘bad hair defense’ at trial
As his trial resumes, Phil Spector's attorneys are indicating that they
plan to take an unprecedented step: arguing that Spector was
discriminated against by arresting officers because of his bad hair.
"There is no question how unseemly his hair appeared in the period
surrounding his arrest. It is a matter of public record," said lead
attorney Mike Stemple. "We will show how this affected Mr.
Spector seeking equal treatment under the laws of this state."
Last year's trial on these charges resulted in a hung jury. Spector's hair has been speculated to be based on the lead character from David Lynch's landmark film, "Eraserhead."
Former boxing promoter Don King, who was granted a suspended sentence on tax evasion charges, is expected to testify for the prosecution next week.
