Andre 300 Announces New Solo Release
I miss Andre as a rapper. I think I forgot about him as a lyricist under all the random clothes...I hope he returns to some of those familiar elements on this new album.
OutKast’s Andre 3000 has officially revealed plans to release his upcoming solo debut by as early as this year.
According to Rolling Stone, the ATLien will be returning to store shelves with his first album without group member Big Boi. Rather than giving an exact date, Andre hinted at when he expects to release the currently untitled project.
“It should be dropping by the end of this year or early next year,” he told Rolling Stone. “I’ve pretty much been working by myself.”
Despite adding lyricism and popularizing singles from artists like John Legend, Fonzworth Bentley, Rich Boy, DJ Unk and UGK, Andre has decided to cut down his guest appearances for his own album.
“I’ve never really been that big on collaboration," he said. "I have a concept, and all the soundscapes are already in my head, so I just have to figure out how to get there. I’ve learned that I’m most powerful when I’m doing my art.”
Aside from hip-hop, Andre makes his return to the big screen in tomorrow’s debut film, Battle In Seattle. Co-starring Woody Harrelson, the film has the rapper-turned-actor playing an activist during 1999’s World Trade Organization summit. (From Sohh.com)

Busta Rhymes Signs with Motown
Let me found out Motown is becoming the new home of hip hop!
SOHH has confirmed that Busta Rhymes has left Aftermath/Interscope and is officially signed with Universal Motown.
According to Motown reps, the New York rapper has signed an agreement to release his next project on the famed label - which is also home to Lil’ Wayne and Chamillionaire.
As previously reported by SOHH’s Ya Heard blog, the hip-hop icon was in talks earlier this week about leaving Aftermath to pursue a run with Motown. Busta helped the summer heat up when it was rumored he was being dropped from the label.
“I can’t confirm or deny anything,” an Interscope/Aftermath rep previously told SOHH about the then rumored split.
In addition to an alleged industry beef with label chairman Jimmy Iovine, Busta suffered major delays with his eighth studio album, Blessed, originally slated for an early July release, including various sampling conflicts. Blessed was never released, despite the label dropping two videos for the songs “We Made It” and “Don’t Touch Me (Throw Da Water On ’Em).”
If released on Motown, Blessed will feature contributions from Linkin Park, Dr. Dre, Green Lantern, Cool & Dre, Nottz, Timbaland and Pharrell. As of press time there is no word on when or if Blessed will hit stores. (From Sohh.com)

Pharell Inks Deal with Microsoft
This should definitely make for an interesting campaign. I think Pharell has more of a worldwide appeal than Seinfeld anyway.
Hip-Hop star Pharrell joins a cast of celebrities in a new $300 million dollar advertising campaign being launched by technology behemoth, Microsoft.
On September 4, Microsoft debuted two spots featuring comedian and spokesman Jerry Seinfeld and company founder Bill Gates, as part of the biggest ad spend in the company’s history.
One advertisement features Seinfeld and Gates shoe shopping while engaging in idle chatter and the second features Seinfeld and Gates engaged in conversation at a blue collar family’s dinner table. Despite being on the air for less than two weeks, the company is pulling the ads, in favor of a new campaign featuring Williams, Deepak Chopra and actress Eva Longoria.
A Microsoft spokesman said the ad campaign was “completely in accordance” with the company’s plans and denied that a lukewarm response from consumers was to blame for the change.
The “second phase” of Microsoft’s ad campaign featuring Pharrell have the tagline: “Windows. Life without walls.”
Microsoft has tapped Williams’ marketing power in the past, as the hit making rapper/producer helped launch the company’s game Halo 3 in the United Kingdom.
It is not clear if Seinfeld, who was paid $10 million dollars to endorse Microsoft, will be featured in the print version of the advertisements, which are scheduled to debut this Fall. (From Allhiphop.com)

Paris Hilton’s dogs beg for euthanasia
Contrary to Internet rumors, Paris Hilton's dogs aren't dead. But they wish they were!
Dateline Hollywood has confirmed that two of Paris Hilton's dogs were not eaten by coyotes, despite reports on several disreputable websites that they were. However, they did go missing, and it turns out they were begging to be euthanized.
The rumors started, sources, say after Hilton threatened to feed two of her 17 dogs to coyotes when they were caught running away to a nearby's veterinarian's office and making begging noises in the room where he performs euthanasia on terminally ill animals.
Experts say it's a rare but not unprecedented act for the pets of celebrities.
"Animals in desperate situations can sometimes learn to communicate their needs in very intelligent ways," said Barry Gordonson, professor of Hollywood star veterinary medicine at USC. "For years, researchers thought Michael Jackson's chimp Bubbles couldn't learn sign language because he kept saying 'kill me' over and over. Now we know differently."
Neither of the two dogs begging for suicide is believed to have been Hilton's beloved Tinkerbell. Sources said the famous chihuahua has actually been brain dead for two years.

‘Dane Cook is not very funny,’ says Dane Cook
Comedian-actor Cook made headlines in mid-August when he wrote a lengthy post on his MySpace page criticizing the poster for the new romantic comedy "My Best Friend's Girl" from Lionsgate in which he stars with Kate Hudson. Many people were surprised to read that he was so critical of a yet-to-be-released movie that he was a big part of. Now he has posted another lengthy diatribe on his page saying how he thinks Dane Cook "is not very funny." Here's some of what he had to say:
"Have you guys seen this Dane Cook guy? Two words. Not funny. I'm not sure why people find Dane Cook so damn funny. He jumps around on the stage like a monkey. I just don't get it, but the kids, they love him."
A call to Dane Cook's publicist confirmed that the comedian has passed that Hollywood star threshold where he now refers to himself in the third person. Still, it's good to see such honesty from a Hollywood star. According to a recent Dateline Hollywood poll, the biggest laugh Cook recently received was when he appeared in the drama "Mr. Brooks" and his character was killed with a shovel.
